This recipe is just too easy…using frozen dark cherries, sliced almonds, quick oats, and other pantry staples, you can have a warm, homemade crisp in 30 minutes! If cherries aren’t your thing, substitute with any other fruit—raspberries, blueberries, peaches, or apples.
Sweet Black Cherry Crisp
Ingredients:
6 cups frozen dark cherries, thawed
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup, plus 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup quick oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sliced almonds
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13″ x 9″ baking pan. In a large bowl, combine the sugar and 3 tablespoons of flour. Add the thawed cherries and toss gently to coat. Spoon the mixture into the pan.
In a medium bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, and 1/4 cup flour. Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the mixture until crumbly and combined well. Sprinkle evenly over the cherry mixture and then sprinkle the almonds evenly on top. Bake until hot and bubbly, about 30 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes, then serve. I suggest pairing it with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream!
