Second Street Bistro in downtown Highland Park debuted their newest endeavor, 2nd Street Enoteca, early last week and, already, there are many devotees, including myself. The contemporary Italian cuisine continues under the same roof as 2nd Street and shares the commitment to serve locally sourced and organic produce and meats when available. This commitment adds to the creativity and variety of the food presented on the menu and supports our local organic farmers.
Just like the Bistro, Enoteca is BYOB. Which owner, Bobby Dubin, says the customers have really enjoyed. With no corkage fee, both 2nd Street and Enoteca offer gourmet foods and you’re free to bring in your favorite bottle of wine or beer to enjoy it with. Economical and everyone enjoys their drink!
The menu for Enoteca is overwhelming—and I mean that in the best way possible. There are just too many great picks that it’s hard to choose just one appetizer and entre. One menu category that stood out in particular, though? Their hand tossed, brick oven pizza. It tasted like I was back in Florence, Italy enjoying my pizza on a palazzo, but I digress. The menu also offers great options for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free dietary needs. Really, you can’t go wrong.
Enoteca’s owner and staff are so passionate about the restaurant that is quite difficult to leave without a smile on your face (and full stomach!). Both 2nd Street Bistro and Enoteca fill up quick on the weekdays (and even quicker on the weekends) so make sure to plan ahead and make a reservation. I’ll see you there!
2nd Street Bistro and 2nd Street Enoteca are located at 1825 Second Street in Highland Park. For more information or to place a reservation please call 847-433-3400.
