In support of the School of Saint Mary, mothers and daughters gathered at the home of Judy Gavoor on May 6, for an afternoon of tea and etiquette. As the mothers and daughters came through the front door after having their picture taken outdoors, they were greeted with champagne or apple juice.
Guests mingled with Mrs. Odette Gibson, the Primary Grade Center’s music teacher, who then played favorite songs on the piano. The young girls and mothers were formally seated before high tea was served, all of which included all the traditional trimmings: bone china, Irish crystal, flowers, lace, linens, and sterling silver. Adding to the enjoyment of the afternoon, Margaret Kanakis of Lake Bluff and Gloria Hachikian of Lake Forest dressed up and performed as English servers. Upon their departure, each girl was treated to a School of Saint Mary doll, which were playfully lined up on the stairway of the Gavoor home.
