Allendale Shelter
On the beautiful spring day of April 19, supporters of the Allendale Shelter Club gathered at a private club in Lake Forest to hear Ms. Jenny Sullivan Sanford, former First Lady of South Carolina and New York Times best-selling author, speak on personal courage. More than 200 guests filled the dining room and listened while Ms. Sanford talked about the importance of dignity, self-respect, and honesty when facing life’s challenges. During the event, Lake Forest Book Store sold copies of her book, Staying True. Cindy Annibali and Laura Capstick served as co-chairs. Allendale Shelter Club is a unique organization that provides a home, a school, and a place to heal for youth that suffer from trauma, abuse, mental illness, and learning disabilities based in Lake Villa.
