The Founders Event

Mothers Trust Foundation

The Gorton Community Center saw more than 90 supporters of Mothers Trust Foundation during the organization’s Founders Event on February 9. The idea behind the event was established back in 2009, in an effort to honor the organization’s founder, Barbara Monsor. Beginning with hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and mingling, the evening’s guests were introduced to one another and enjoyed conversation as music by Jay LaBelle filled the air.

To kick off the night, Board members, staff, and other volunteers were introduced, as well as all of the partners in attendance who collaborate with Mothers Trust on a regular basis. The Founders Award was given to Roycealee Wood, Lake County Regional Superintendent of Schools, for her steadfast commitment to children in need. Other honorees for the evening were John Ahlgrim, Richard Ribando, Alan Thomas, and John Alaimo. Others gave personal accounts of how Mothers Trust impacts the lives of their students, club members, and family members.

The evening was a testament to the friendships and strong relationships built throughout Lake County in the group’s effort to provide an ever-growing safety net for disadvantaged children.
