The Lake Forest Woman's Club
Supporters of The Lake Forest Woman’s Club celebrated the season by awarding scholarships to five students during their annual fashion show on December 13. Held at Exmoor Country Club, the event featured the presentation of scholarships, a luncheon, silent auction, as well as a runway show of the season’s hottest trends. The Lake Forest Woman’s Club is involved with Trinity International University’s “Reach to Teach” Program, which offers adults the opportunity to work while pursuing their dreams of becoming a teacher. Debra Johnson was awarded the “Woman Among Us” Award by the organization, in recognition for her overcoming life challenges early on, and going on to becoming the afternoon anchor for WVON 1690AM Radio in Chicago. Members from The Lake Forest Dance Academy performed a variation of the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” for entertainment. Laura Henderson is the current president of the Club, and Mary Ellen Graham and Kathy Schmidt served as event co-chairs.
