Lake Forest Boosters
In a crosstown rivalry, the Scouts of Lake Forest High School took on the Caxys of Lake Forest Academy on February 4, in a basketball showdown a little different than usual. The Lake Forest Boosters sponsored a fund-raiser for the evening, which encouraged all fans to dress in their “best bling.” The first 500 attendees received a specially designed commemorative “Bling & Blue” T-shirt, courtesy of Fields Fiat. Two lucky fans were selected for a chance to win a 2012 Fiat 500 by sinking a shot from three-fourths court, but unfortunately neither saw net. There was a “Best Bling” contest to award those who showed their school colors in the most outrageous ways. Lake Forest High School student Maggie Jacobson won an Apple iPhone 4S for her efforts. Lastly, there was a “Bling & Blue Shoe Art” category, where fans of all ages were invited to convert their old cleats, spikes, and sneakers into works of art. LFHS students Lauren Yarkony and Heather Stark took home prizes, as well as first grader Viola Swarthout. But it was the Scouts that proved overall victorious for the night, beating LFA 59 to 52.
