Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society
In a series presented by the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society, the organization honored internationally renowned architect Adrian Smith of Lake Forest. Smith was interviewed by veteran journalist Bill Kurtis on the stage at Gorton Community Center during the afternoon of October 29. Smith’s extraordinary body of work features the Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates, the world’s tallest structure, among many other amazing designs throughout the world like Millennium Park and Trump Tower in Chicago. The Historical Society’s signature event, Local Legends, debuted in 2010, with a program honoring Captain James Lovell. The format provides a perfect setting to celebrate the community’s superstars in an intimate, one-on-one interview. Guests had the opportunity to hear Smith’s behind-the-scenes stories on his intriguing projects.
