Spirit of 67 Foundation 2011 Benefit Luncheon

On October 28, The Spirit of 67 Foundation celebrated its donors, volunteers, and a week of creating awareness for the Spirit at the organization’s fifth annual luncheon at Exmoor Country Club. The more than 256 supporters that attended enjoyed bidding on approximately 200 items available for auction, some of which included a day with Senator Susan Garrett, a vacation package in Los Cabos, a tour of WGN Television Studios in Chicago with Larry Potash, and a cooking class at Williams-Sonoma. Benefiting the children of School District 67, the luncheon is one of two major fund-raisers for the group, which generates grants for use by teachers, administrators, and parents. Due to the Spirit’s fund-raising efforts in the past, the organization has been able to provide netbooks, iPads, Smart Boards, digital microscopes, author visits, art walls, and additional programming. Missy Burger serves as president of The Spirit of 67 Foundation, and Tina Ballis served as event co-chair. The Spirit of 67 Foundation was first established in 1985 by a group of parents dedicated to providing funds to enrich the educational experiences of students and faculty. Since its inception, the Spirit has raised more than $2.8 million to provide programs and materials that would otherwise not be available to the district and staff.
